Track & Field Update

Good News:

Because of the recently voted bond, we will be getting a new Track!!!...yes, tartan surface!

Bad News:

It's going to take time to build the new track...and it won't be ready until 2009-2010 season.

Unknown News:

Starting date of construction? Might be in Feb. 2008, April 2008, or summertime. We might not have a track to practice/compete on this upcoming season!

Coaching News:

The administration has interviewed a few people for the head coaching job. They are reluctant to make a decision because of the recent uncertainty with the track construction.

Coach Tokuda - told the administration that he wants out of Track last year. As of the end of Cross Country season, the administration has no attempt to allow him to leave. What does this mean?...don't know, Tokuda is not happy about it.

Coach Chavez - told the administration that she wants out of Track last year. She will not be coaching Track, but wants to come back for Cross Country.

Coach Brown - wants to continue as our sprint coach. New head coach would have to decide whether he will remain on staff.

Coach Campbell - wants to continue as our vault coach. New head coach would have to decide whether she will remain on staff.

Coach Waybright - has not mention whether or not he is coming back to coach the throwers.

Coach Rick - wants to continue as our distance coach. New head coach would have to decide whether he will remain on staff. Coach Rick wants to come back for Cross Country.

So what does all of this mean? Where would we practice if there is construction? When will we know about a head coach? When are cuts?

Don't know...please don't ask Tokuda, he doesn't have any of the answers.
